High Gravity Hip Hop: High Gravity Cinco

High Gravity Hip Hop was in full swing yesterday at the Georgia Freight Depot with High Gravity Cinco. This annual beer festival in Atlanta included a twist to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by including delicious margaritas and live salsa music from Orquesta MaCuba. Even with the extra added excitement, nothing was taken away from the main attraction of over 30 different craft beers. For an event that was 6 hours in length I had plenty of time to taste every last one of them. Now every beer was delicious and appealing to the palate but the beers that stuck out the most were from Innis & Gunn who provided beers aged in bourbon and Jamaican Rum barrels which had a quite a kick I might add; I return quite frequently to their station.
The festival also included other attractions such inflatable games which everyone really seemed to enjoy while sipping the various craft libations. The mechanical bull provide quite a show in which the next individual after downing their liquid courage attempted the feat of staying on the bull the longest; needless to say there wasn’t too many times beyond 20 seconds but the laughter and atmosphere would make anyone forget about achieving the longest time. High Gravity also provided art from David Patterson who is a phenomenal visual artist with a combination of storytelling and imaginative expression.
Of course now I wouldn' thave any manners if I didn't talk about the hip hop portions of the festival, which included some of the dopiest upcoming artists. I heard some many remixes of establishment in made my head spin but in a good way. Now not every song was a classic but overall the musically performances where quite entertaining. And I can’t forget the hard hitting DJing from DJ DiBiase and DJ Jamad which had the crowd swaying the entire event. Now last but not least, the master of ceremonies was Dres tha Beatnik who kept the crowd hyped and entertained. There is really something to say about this gentleman who has been a part of the hip hop scene for over two decades: he’s funny, exciting, and a down to earth person. Overall Hip Hop Cinco was a success when intertwining hip hop with craft beer….Cheers!!!!
